Watermelon sweet - juicy, refreshing, nutritious, and dietary - watermelon. A fruit that is actually a vegetable. Watermelons are in season from July to September and are at their tastiest.

You can eat them alone or add them to fruit salads as a mix. Watermelons are not used for desserts, but neither are winter fruits. What you can save for the winter is the bark. You can use the rind to make a delicious and decorative watermelon candy.

ingredients:

  • 350 g of peeled watermelon rind
  • 300 g of sugar
  • 1 dl of water
  • 1/2 of a small lemon
  • vanilla to taste

<strong>Preparation: </strong>

  • Cut the watermelon rind into smaller cubes.
  • Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in about 2 dl of water, add the watermelon rind.
  • If necessary, add more water (the watermelon rind should be soaked).
  • After half an hour, pour the water and rinse the peel.
  • Put sugar and water in a saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil, then add the watermelon rind.
  • Cook the watermelon candy for about half an hour at a low temperature.
  • A few minutes before the end of cooking, add lemon juice or lemon cut into slices.
  • Season with pieces of vanilla stick if desired.
  • Cover the sweet with a cloth and leave it to cool.
  • Pour the completely cooled watermelon candy into a clean jar.
  • Close the jar with cellophane and then with a metal cap.
  • If you don't like the smell and taste of lemon, you can add a pinch of lemon juice or powdered vitamin C to the watermelon dessert.
