Slavic wheat, traditional recipe.
Slavic wheat, ingredients:
- 500 g of wheat,
- 400 g granulated sugar or to taste
- 500 g of ground walnuts and
- 2 bags of vanilla sugar.
Slavic wheat, preparation:
- Pour half a kilogram of wheat with water and leave it overnight.
- The next day, wash the soaked grain and cook it.
- When the wheat is cooked, let it cool and while it is still lukewarm, strain it but do not rinse it! When the wheat is sifted, while it is still warm, grind it in a meat grinder. It should not be ground too finely, it is better if the wheat is ground more coarsely. Mix the ground wheat, which is still warm, with granulated sugar, vanilla sugar and walnuts. Mixing wheat, walnuts and sugar is done by hand. The housewife mixes and kneads the mixture with her hands and fingers.
- At the end, the Slavonic grain is sprinkled on top with walnuts and walnut halves, decorated as desired.
