Schnitzel in Balkan sauce - beef in a slightly different way. The meat is soft and juicy, and the taste should be tried.

  • 6 pieces of beef thigh steaks
  • 6 leaves of Gouda
  • 1 piece of onion
  • 1 tablespoon of dry herb seasoning
  • 2 dl of water
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • pepper (to taste)
  • 1 spoon of ketchup
  1. Cut the steaks into smaller pieces and pound each one. Arrange the meat in a greased tray and cover each steak with cheese.
    Cut the onion into cubes, add dry spices, ketchup, water, pepper and mix everything.
  2. Pour the mass evenly over the steaks and place in the oven heated to 200 degrees, then immediately reduce the temperature to 180 degrees. Bake for 30 minutes, then if the water has evaporated, add another half cup of water by spooning it over each steak separately. Shake the tray a little to mix the sauce, water and melted cheese.
  3. Allow another 15 minutes for the dish to bake, making sure that the steaks do not dry out. Transfer the finished schnitzels to a plate, and mix the remaining sauce in the pan and pour it over the schnitzels.
  4. Serve with mashed potatoes and salad as desired.
