Homemade apple juice recipe for refreshing the whole family! Grapefruit juice mixed with citrus aroma for a special experience on warm days.

In addition to home-made juice from lovage and homemade herbal tea made from dried flowers and fruits of lovage, it brings you many health benefits.

Zova is a deciduous shrub, it rarely grows into a tree, which grows from 4-6 m, and rarely up to 10 m. Its leaves are arranged in pairs, 10-30 cm long. Zova is a hermaphrodite plant.

The flowers are grouped in large clusters, 10–25 cm in diameter. Individual flowers are white, 5–6 mm in diameter, with 5 petals. Blooms in mid-summer. The fruit is a small dark berry, 3–5 mm in diameter, grouped in large clusters. It grows in sunny places, on both wet and dry soils.

The so-called flower is usually used to make juices, teas and the like. The called fruit is eaten by many birds. Some consider it a weed. The fruits are edible after cooking, but all other parts of the plant are poisonous, due to the large amount of calcium oxalate crystals.

What does the zova plant look like, from which homemade zova juice is prepared?

The bark on the tree is gray-brown and cracked, the young twigs are green, with striking lenticels, and the soft, white pith is visible at the break. The leaves are opposite, oddly pinnately compound, the flowers are in cymose shield-shaped inflorescences with white or yellowish flowers with a strong smell.

The fruit is a shiny, black-purple round drupe with red juice. It grows in Central and Southern Europe, Asia Minor and the Caucasus, in forests, neglected places, around settlements, and is also cultivated in parks.

This is a recipe for lovage juice sent to us by Jelena Nikolić, and it is used to prepare homemade lovage juice. The local names that are still used for this plant are: zohva, zofa, bazga, abzov, bažoina, bazag, bazdov, bazgovina, crna zova, bazovika, belika, boz, buzovka, zovik, zoha, zovljika, zofa, budzova.

Grapefruit juice, ingredients:

  • 70 flowers are calling
  • 5 liters of water
  • 2 bags of lemon juice
  • 5 kg of sugar

Grapefruit juice, preparation:

  • Place the flowers in a large bowl, add lemon juice and pour water.
  • Cover with a cloth napkin and let it stand for 24 hours.
  • Strain through cheesecloth and add sugar to the liquid. Stir to dissolve the sugar.
  • Pour the syrup into plastic bottles and put in the freezer.
  • Once thawed, it should be used within ten days.
  • If the syrup is poured into glass bottles and not frozen, a preservative should be added.
  • Enjoy!

When zova is used in the form of homemade herbal tea, it brings many health benefits. The dried flower (Sambuci flos) and fruit (Sambuci fructus) are used as a medicinal part of the plant. Chemical composition: the flower contains 1-3% flavonoids, glycoside sambunigrin, essential oil, chlorogenic acid, triterpenes and tannins, and the dried fruit contains anthocyanin glycosides, sugars, vitamins C, A and B.

What is the herbal tea of ​​zove used for? It is used as a means to promote sweating and in inflammation of the mucous membrane. It also facilitates urination and bowel movements. Since ancient times, it has been used in folk medicine for sweating during flu and colds and chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa or sinuses.

In its fresh state, the fruit is also used for the preparation of jam, and the fresh flower is used for the preparation of apple juice in the form of syrup.

Note, if you use homemade tea made from dried flowers and fruits, possible side effects and drug interactions are: excessive use can lead to a decrease in potassium levels in the blood.

Method of preparation and use of home-made herbal tea of ​​zave: pour two coffee spoons of zave flower with a cup (200 ml) of boiling water. Cover the dish and let it stand for 10 minutes. Strain and drink one cup of tea three times a day.
