A group of American scientists found that even simply standing every day significantly lowers blood pressure blood sugar level and reduces the risk of heart attack and diabetes.

Arizona State University researchers conducted a four-week study on nine overweight people who sat for at least eight hours every day, reports Xinhua.

They were asked to occasionally get up, take a walk, without too much involvement, which made a total of 2,5 hours of daily activities. Occasionally they would also ride a bicycle.

The result showed that the level of sugar in the blood progressively fell during this period, and the most on the days when they ride a bike, it was published in the text in the monthly magazine "Medicine and Science in Sport".

"We found that the reduction in blood sugar levels ranged from 5 to 12 percent, and the highest was recorded when cycling," study author Glenn Gieser told Reuters.

"And this study, like many before it, confirmed that sitting destroys health," Gizer said.
