Old fashioned popara.
Old fashioned popara, ingredients:
- 300 g old bread,
- 2 l of water,
- 2 teaspoons of salt,
- 100 g of homemade lard,
- 2 tablespoons of cream,
- 200 g of cheese.
Old fashioned popara, preparation:
- Cut the bread into not too small pieces.
- Pour water into the pot and put it on the fire. When it boils, add salt, add bread, submerge and let it boil for 2 minutes (take care not to overcook the bread).
- Remove the bread with a slotted spoon and place it in an ovenproof dish (baking or baking pan).
- Spread the cream and cheese over the bread.
- Heat the fat and pour it over the cheese (the fat should be well heated so that when it is poured over the cheese, you can hear it "sizzling").
- Serve hot to the soup.
TIP: The popara that our grandmothers used to make. An ideal way to use up old bread and still get a delicious meal. Pleasant!
