Vintage rolls.
Old fashioned rolls, ingredients:
For the dough:
- 2 eggs,
- 2 tablespoons lard,
- 2 spoons of sugar,
- 1 bag of vanilla sugar,
- a little grated lemon peel,
- 400 ml of milk,
- 15 g of fresh yeast,
- 800 g of flour.
For the filling:
- if necessary, jam.
For rolling the rolls:
- if necessary, powdered sugar.
Vintage rolls, preparation:
For the dough:
- Crush the yeast and put it in a bowl, add 100 ml of lukewarm milk, 1 spoon of sugar, mix and let it stand for 10 minutes.
- Put pork fat in a separate bowl and beat it with a mixer. Add eggs, 1 tablespoon of sugar, grated lemon peel, vanilla sugar and beat with a mixer. Then add the added yeast, pour in the remaining lukewarm milk (300 ml) and mix with a mixer. Add flour (400 g) and mix with a mixer. Turn off the mixer and, gradually adding the remaining flour (400 g), knead a softer dough.
- Cover with transparent cling film and leave to rise.
- The resulting dough should not be kneaded, but placed on a floured work surface and divided into two parts.
- Roll both parts into a large circle with a rolling pin and cut into triangles.
- Apply 1 teaspoon of jam on each triangle, roll up the rolls and arrange them in a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover them with a clean kitchen towel and let them rest for 10 minutes.
- During this time, turn on the oven and heat it to 250 degrees.
- Bake the rolls at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.
- Take the finished rolls out of the oven and roll them in powdered sugar while still hot.
- Serve the buns and serve.
Tip: an old, grandmother's recipe. Wonderful rolls that bring us back to childhood. Even if you use homemade jam, as I do - the pleasure is complete. Nothing without our old, proven good, traditional recipes.
