Vintage wafers - Verica Poznanović - Recipes and Cookbook online

Antique wafers - wafers or wafers is the question now? For as long as I can remember, they were wafers, I don't know what is correct, but for me they are wafers! I like that name better. Although, on the packaging, it says WAFERS!

Vintage wafers, ingredients:

  • 1 liter of milk,
  • 500 g of crystal sugar,
  • 1 vanilla sugar,
  • 200 g of margarine,
  • 100 g of raisins,
  • 100 g of ground walnuts and
  • packing wafers.

Old-fashioned wafers, preparation:

  • Cook (caramelize) the sugar, vanilla sugar and milk for about an hour and a half to two hours, it should be as thick as liquid yogurt and light brown in color. So keep in mind that you will have to adjust the temperature of the hotplate throughout the cooking and of course, you have to stir occasionally.
  • Immediately add margarine, nuts and raisins to the cooked filling. Cool the filling a little and you can start filling. Wafer, filling and so on until everything is used up.
  • Place foil on the finished wafers and press with a heavier object. Let them set and stick.
