A meeting of individual agricultural producers of fruit and vegetables with representatives of the METRO Cash company was held today in PKS - Regional Chamber of Commerce Leskovac & Carry.
METRO Cash & Carry Serbia is part of the German METRO Group, one of the largest international trade companies in the world, which has been operating successfully for more than half a century.
Metro has more than 21 million satisfied customers in 25 countries around the world, and they have been operating in Serbia for more than 12 years.
Veljko Jovanović, secretary of the Association for Plant Production of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, pointed out the importance of including local producers in large wholesale systems.
Goran Jović, director of PKS - Regional Chamber of Commerce Leskovac, invited individual agricultural producers to actively participate in the discussion at the meeting and thus learn as much as possible about the conditions for inclusion in the Metro wholesale system.
Hajnalka Herak, senior procurement manager at the company METRO Cash & Carry Serbia, noted that in recent years the company has particularly focused on expanding cooperation with local producers and cooperatives, thereby encouraging small farms to become more competitive on the market, improve production and join the Metro system wholesale.
The presentation of the fruit and vegetable department was held by Vanja Tadić, head of fruit and vegetable procurement, while Dragana Zarić, head of quality control, spoke about quality control.
After the meeting, agricultural producers had the opportunity to have individual discussions with representatives of the METRO Cash & Carry company.
