You eat everything and lose weight? Is that right? Interview with... Dr. Alain Delabo, creator of chrono nutrition

You eat everything and lose weight... is one of the many titles on the topic: chronic nutrition. This is one of the headlines that creates, in most cases, a false illusion about chrono nutrition.

Before we present you a short interview with Dr. Alain Delabo, the creator of the chrono diet, let's share a short excerpt from his book Chrono nutrition in the French way, Vulcan publishing house, which gives an answer to the aforementioned statement "you eat everything and lose weight", which is connected with the "ease" of the concept of chronic nutrition:

Dr. Alain Delabeau:

Therefore, you can eat practically everything, but not at any time.

Provided, of course, that it is not at any time during the day or that it is any amount of food.

You eat everything and lose weight, we're sure, and our everyday lives testify to this, creating a wrong image of the way of eating, which is called chronic eating. Read a short interview with Dr. Alain Delabo, the creator of the nutrition concept called: chrono nutrition. Draw your own conclusions.

Recipes and Cookbook online: Dr. Delabo, how do you comment on the headlines in the media: "Lose up to 50 kilograms and eat as much as you want?"

Dr. Alain Delabeau: With diets that lose weight in this way, the problem is that they are more rigorous and more dangerous in terms of human health, and there is also the problem that they will most likely regain more weight than they lost. That was the problem with the Dukan Diet in France, for example (Dukan Diet by Pierre Dukan, prim.aut.).

Recipes and Cookbook online: How important are meal sizes?

Dr. Alain Delabeau: I've set some standard meal amounts for certain types of people, that's the basics, but each individual should eat as much as they're hungry - which doesn't mean they should overdo it! And that's how it should be done, until it is somehow leveled out as a function of how his body develops: whether he loses kilos or not.

Recipes and Cookbook online: How important is the ratio of basic and acidic foods (alkalization) in your concept of chronic nutrition?

Dr. Alain Delabeau: It's just important! It is necessary to make a combination, for example: meat - as sour and vegetables - as basic. Like cheese and bread, or fish and vegetables. And fruit, always and necessarily in combination with vegetable fats. Never just fruit!

Recipes and Cookbook online: How do you comment on the fact that in Serbia, as part of certain concepts of chronic nutrition, the ban on the use of root vegetables is propagated, for example, there is a big debate on the Internet whether carrots should be used or not, because of the glycemic index... We know about the fact that within the concept of chronic nutrition, you prohibit the use of foods containing lactose, but we have not heard of the ban on carrots...

Dr. Alain Delabeau: Everything is in moderation, of course. With all foods, if you overdo it, it's dangerous. If someone has diabetes, then they will not eat carrots, alcohol is dangerous in itself, etc... As it is dangerous to overdo it with meat, you should not overdo it with vegetables either. You can eat one carrot, but there is no point in saying: don't eat carrots at all! But there is no point in eating a kilogram of carrots! If you are diabetic, I repeat, you should not eat it.

Recipes and Cookbook online: Just to explain to you why we asked this question - many websites in Serbia that deal with chronic nutrition prohibit the use of carrots.

Dr. Alain Delabeau: (loud laughter!) No, no, it's all about moderation!

What are the most important messages from the book Chrono Nutrition the French Way, Dr. Alan Delabaut?

Chrono diet is not a diet! Chrono nutrition is a way of eating and a way of life. It's all in moderation. You should strive for such a way of eating, which will fill you with happiness and satisfaction. Such a way of eating should allow you to be in good health and have a beautiful figure!

Everyone should follow their appetite - eat as much as you need. Prescribed amounts are important, eat as much as you are hungry, but don't overdo it!

You should not eat anything that contains lactose: milk, young cheese, yogurt - but you can eat cheese, cream and butter.

So, what is "forbidden" in the concept of chronic nutrition by Dr. Alain Delabo:

  • products containing lactose, except cheese, cream and butter
  • soups, broths - from which you get cellulite (especially they should not be consumed in the evening and are especially not recommended for the female population). During the summer months, you can make a few "offences" and consume soup, because it prevents dehydration of the body.
  • industrial foods - all industrially produced food, which contains preservatives, i.e. fattening additives
  • sauces and sauces containing sugar: ketchup, barbecue sauces
Everything else is "permitted", but not without certain rules - not without order and not together.

The most important meal of the day is breakfast (never skip breakfast), followed by lunch and dinner.

For a snack, you should eat fruit, necessarily with nuts (vegetable fats), once a week and something sweet (without added sugar).

If you want to lose extra pounds, be sure to consult your doctor and ask for a recommendation for a vitamin preparation, as well as natural protein bars without added sugar that you should consume as a dietary supplement.

While guesting on TV Pink as part of Topic of the Morning, Dr. Alain Delabo stated that he was very surprised that the chrono diet method (la chrono-nutrition®), which he established about 30 years ago, is known in Serbia, although he never taught anyone in Serbia to deal with chronic nutrition.
