Tortilla recipe, from ingredients you always have on hand. Yeast-free tortilla dough.

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 0,5 teaspoons of salt
  • 0,25 cup oil
  • 0,5 cup water (half cup to 3/4 cup)
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  1. Sift the flour, salt and baking powder into a mixing bowl.
  2. Add the oil and mix well.
  3. Add water (if desired, you can also add a part of milk) and mix and knead well, until an even mass of dough is made. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Form 6-8 balls of dough, cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for another 15 minutes.
  5. Sprinkle flour on the work surface in the kitchen and roll each ball to make round tortillas. The thickness should be 3-4 mm.
  6. Heat a teflon pan without oil, at a higher temperature for about 5 minutes. Fry the tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side, until they have brown spots on the surface. Do not overcook the tortillas. You can use the tortillas immediately, or leave them for later, and before serving, reheat them a little in a Teflon pan.
