Belgrade, November 18, 2015 - Crédit Agricole Bank Srbija and the company METRO Cash & Carry Srbija, in cooperation with the Secretariat for Education and Child Protection of the City Administration of the City of Belgrade and the non-governmental humanitarian organization Banka Hrana, signed a new cooperation agreement and announced joint participation in the New Year's Box humanitarian project.
On behalf of the City, the agreement was signed by the City Secretary for Education and Child Protection Snežana Đurić, on behalf of METRO Cash & Carry Srbija, General Manager Roberto Mancuso, and on behalf of Crédit Agricole Bank Srbija Svetozar Šijačić, member of the Executive Board of CA Bank and Raško Tomašević, Head of marketing, communications and business with natural persons. On this occasion, the mayor of Belgrade, Siniša Mali, also addressed the audience.
He assessed that the signing of this agreement represents one of the foundations of the social policy of the City of Belgrade and thanked the partners for their participation and initiative.
"One of our basic goals is the protection and support of children who are at risk in any way, and that is why at the end of last year, the City of Belgrade, for the first time in its history, formed the Council for the Rights of the Child, in order to deal with children in Belgrade in a serious and systematic way . We have an obligation to make sure that children's rights are realized, but also to help their families and show at least small signs of attention that they are not left to themselves, but that there is someone to take care of them", emphasized the mayor and invited companies and associations to join this humanitarian action.
The New Year's Box project has been successfully implemented since 2009, and so far more than 6.000 children have received New Year's packages. Starting this year, the emphasis is on supporting natural families and improving the quality of life of children in them.
As part of the action, Crédit Agricole Srbija and METRO Cash & Carry Srbija will donate products and funds for New Year's packages for the youngest and organize a show during which the little ones will be handed packages that will convey the joy of holiday giving in the right way.
The New Year's box is a continuation of the humanitarian action Magic breakfast, which was organized by the companies Crédit Agricole banka Srbija and METRO Cash & Carry Srbija and the non-governmental organization Banka Hrane at the beginning of this year. At that time, more than eight and a half tons of food was provided for the needs of schools for children with developmental disabilities.
