Valjušci con krompi (potato dumplings), a traditional dish that was once very often prepared in Vojvodina.
Potato rolls, ingredients:
- 3 pieces of potatoes
- 300 g flour
- on top of a teaspoon of salt
- 100 ml of water
- 1 onion
- about 100 g of smoked bacon
- 2 tablespoons of spicy ground red pepper
Potato rolls, preparation:
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into smaller cubes. Put in water to boil.
- Knead the dough from flour, salt and water. Add water gradually, if necessary, add a little more water. Knead the dough, so that it is not too hard and not too soft - so that it does not stick to your hands.
- Pour water into a pot, and when it boils, tear the dough into small pieces and drop it into the boiling water.
- Cook for about 10 minutes, then remove from the water with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Put finely chopped bacon in the pan. Fry a little to release the fat and then add finely chopped onion. Fry the onion and bacon for 2-3 minutes and then add the spicy ground red pepper. Mix everything well, then add the rollers.
- At the very end, add boiled potatoes, mix everything well and combine. Serve while warm.
