Turned potatoes in an earthen dish. This is an old Serbian dish that our grandmothers and mothers prepared during Lent.

Gvozdene Živković's recipe for twisted potatoes in earthen džuveč was chosen as the best traditional recipe of domestic Serbian cuisine for 2018 on the Recipes and Kuvar online portal.

Roasted potatoes in earthen sauce, ingredients:

  • 600 grams of medium-sized white potatoes
  • 200 grams of onion
  • 1 small tomato
  • a smaller cup of rice
  • 1 head of garlic
  • 1 dl of oil, olive is good
  • salt to taste
  • some allspice
  • beaver

Roasted potatoes in an earthen pot, preparation:

  • Peel the onion, cut it into ribs and put it on low heat to stew. It is best if you have *smederevac*, so it simmers gently.
  • While the onion is stewing, clean the potatoes and carefully hollow out the potatoes with a knife. Lubricate the duvec with oil and arrange the potatoes.
  • Add sliced ​​tomatoes, rice and potatoes left over from deep-spinning to the stewed onion.
  • Sauté everything for another five minutes, add a little salt, pepper and allspice.
  • Fill the potatoes with this filling, sprinkle everything with finely chopped garlic. carefully pour water, cover with fresh cabbage leaves and put to simmer on the "smederevac" stove.
  • Let it simmer like that for about thirty minutes, then move it to a heated oven and roast the potatoes.
  • Serve warm, I like it best with bell peppers or cucumber salad.
