Although the era of empty shelves and record inflation is behind us, food still remains the largest expenditure in the household cheap recipes are always in the center of interest.

Generations of our people still remember the 1990s, a time of sanctions and poverty, but also of unwavering spirit and struggle. Every housewife, like a magician, found creative ways to prepare delicious, varied and nutritious meals, often only from basic ingredients, flour, oil, potatoes, and sugar.

Now we bring to your dining table several recipes from which you can form the cheapest menu in the world.

CHEESE BAKES

Ingredients: 300 grams of cheese, 340 grams of flour, 300 grams of margarine, 1 egg, cumin, salt Preparation: Beat margarine and mix with flour. Add the crumbled cheese, knead the uniform dough and let it rest for two or three hours.

If you are expecting guests and you think you will need a large amount of appetizers and you only have the most basic ingredients in the pantry, maybe this recipe will tickle your taste buds.

POTATO PRETIES

Ingredients: 500 grams of potatoes, 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon of fat, a little salt, butter and flour as needed.

Preparation: Peel the potatoes and while they are still hot, peel them and mash them. Mix eggs, fat, salt, butter and flour into the puree as needed to obtain a uniform mass.

Then roll everything into a crust 2 cm thick, cut the pretzels and fry them in hot oil or fat. Serve with stew or meat while the pretzels are warm.

NETTLE STEW

Ingredients: Two bundles of nettles, flour, milk, salt, pepper and vegetables. Preparation: Put the nettles in boiling salted water and cook for about 20 minutes. After cooking, drain and chop them. Fry a spoonful of flour in the oil, then add chopped nettle and pour a mixture of water and milk. Add pepper, salt and vegetables to taste. Boil to make it thicker and serve.

SAUSAGE WITH SAUER CABBAGE

In sauerkraut season, you only need a few ingredients to wow your guests with everyone's favorite juicy sausages.

Ingredients: 20 thin sausages, 1 tablespoon of butter, 500 g of drained sauerkraut, 2 bay leaves and half a tablespoon of cumin.

Preparation: Heat a tablespoon of butter in a deep frying pan, then fry the sausages. Turn occasionally to prevent them from burning. Drain the sauerkraut and cook it for 12 minutes with a little water, bay leaves and cumin.

Take out the bay leaf, then arrange the cabbage on the plates. Arrange the same number of sausages on each plate and serve with bread.

ONE EGG ENOUGH FOR A CAKE!

Ingredients: 11 tablespoons of fat, 11 tablespoons of sugar, 1 vanilla sugar, 1 baking powder, 11 tablespoons of milk, 1 egg, a little grated lemon peel

Preparation: Melt the fat, put all the listed ingredients and add flour until you get a softer dough for developing the crust. Divide the resulting dough into four parts. Roll out the crust the size of a baking sheet from each part, then bake separately in a greased and floured baking sheet. Leave all four crusts to cool. For the filling, boil 1 dl of milk, 6 spoons of flour and 6 spoons of sugar. Stir constantly until it boils, then cool. Beat 200 grams of margarine and 200 grams of powdered sugar until foamy, add the cooled filling and mix everything well. Arrange the crusts, cover with the filling and finally sprinkle with powdered sugar. Put in the fridge, then serve cut into cubes the next day.
