Venčići - for all lovers of pies and dough dishes!
- 500 g of soft flour
- 30 g of fresh yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 50 ml of oil
- 2 dl of milk
- 150 ml sour cream
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 100 g of butter
- 300 g of sunkarica (thin leaves)
Coating:
- 1 piece of egg
- sesame (or flax)
- Combine lukewarm milk, sugar, a teaspoon of flour and crumbled yeast in a deep bowl, mix well and leave to rise.
- Pour half of the flour into a mixing bowl, add the added yeast, oil, sour cream and salt.
- Then gradually add the remaining flour, kneading continuously until a smooth dough is obtained. Cover the kneaded dough with cling film and leave it to rise.
- It needs about 30 minutes in a warm place.
- Knead the resulting dough and divide it into smaller balls. I had 24 of them.
- Leave them to soak for 20 minutes.
- After that, thin out each ball with a rolling pin, spread it with softened butter and put a ham roll on it.
- With a round serrated knife, cut the ham together with the dough several times in the middle.
- Roll the dough prepared in this way, join the ends to form a wreath.
- Cover the pan with baking paper, then place the wreaths in it. Coat them with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame or flax.
- Bake the wreaths in an oven heated to 200 degrees until they get a wonderful golden color.
