As the temperature drops and the days get shorter, the motivation to engage in physical activity also decreases. However, autumn is the right time for running, say scientists.

A study conducted at St. Mary's University in London found that the cold lowers heart rate by about six percent in runners, as less blood is pumped to the skin for cooling purposes.

In summer, during a 40-minute run at a moderate pace, people sweat about 1,3 liters on average, which means that the body has a harder time dealing with dehydration. However, cold weather requires less energy, which means your run will fall much easier.

During the research, the subjects were exposed to a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius, i.e. eight degrees Celsius, and it turned out that they showed significantly better performance at a lower temperature.
