Read before you travel: which are the most expensive cities to eat in? How much would a meal cost you?
In principle, the prices of coffee, beer or club sandwiches vary around the world, but the value of these products can reveal how expensive it is to live in those cities or to travel to a certain destination. That research was done by BusinessInsider magazine. More precisely, the Hotels.com site has made an analysis of the price of food in hotels around the world.
The research calculated the average price for specific meals and drinks, such as a club sandwich, a burger, a cup of coffee and a glass of wine, for which people pay in 5-, 4- and 3-star hotels in 28 of the world's largest cities. Prices are given in US dollars.
For the third year in a row, the Swiss city of Geneva holds the first place as the most expensive city in the world. We can also see other places where food is expensive, such as in Bogota, Colombia.
In the capital of Colombia, you can buy a burger for $11,76. One coffee costs one dollar and 57 cents. If you want to help yourself to a glass of red wine, you'll need to shell out at least over $6. For a club sandwich, you need to pay $10,49. The total amount of food satisfaction will cost you about 30 US dollars.
In Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, a burger will cost you $13,34. If you also want to drink coffee, you need $2,47. A glass of red wine costs you $6,55. The club sandwich is priced at $9,77. The entire meal and drinks will set you back $32,13.
Rio de Janeiro is the second largest city in Brazil. In it, you can eat one burger for $13,26, and a coffee will cost you a little more than $2. If you want to drink a glass of red wine as well, you will need to shell out $8,66. One club sandwich costs $10,22, and the whole thing will set you back just over $34.
Madrid is the capital of Spain. Offering a burger for just over $18, coffee will set you back $3,33. A glass of red wine is offered at a decent amount of $4 and up. If you're craving a club sandwich, you need $12,78. The total meal including drinks costs $38,73.
Bangkok is the capital of Thailand. In Bangkok, you can find a hamburger for $13,74. A cup of coffee will cost you close to $4,5. Red wine is a bit more expensive and a glass will cost you $10,5. You can eat a club sandwich for just $11. All meal and beverage expenses are $39,53
Buenos Aires is the capital and largest city in Argentina. In this city, a hamburger is prepared for $17,55, and a cup of coffee costs about $3,5. A glass of red wine will set you back nearly $7, and a club sandwich is priced at $12,29. You have to pay a little over $40 for these delicacies.
In the Canadian city of Toronto, you can eat a hamburger for $14,64 and you can drink a coffee for $3,5. A glass of red wine will set you back $8,74, and a club sandwich will set you back $14,65. One meal with a drink will cost you $41,56.
Berlin is the capital of Germany. You can buy a hamburger there for $16,57. If you like coffee, prepare $3,65, and for a glass of red wine, spend a little over $6,5. A club sandwich will cost you around $15. A full meal with a drink will set you back $41,86.
New Delhi is the capital of India. A hamburger there costs $14,82. You can have a coffee for $3,87 and a glass of red wine for $12,61. If you get hungry, a club sandwich will cost you $11,25. All of that will cost you a total of $42,55.
In Moscow, Russia you can have a hamburger for $15,35 or a club sandwich for $13,73. A cup of coffee will cost you just over $4, and a glass of red wine is $9,82. The total bill is less than $43.
If you want to eat in the Irish capital, Dublin, you can get a burger for $19,31 or $13,77 for a club sandwich. A coffee will cost you $3,28 and a glass of red wine will cost you $7,25. Total expenses for the menu will cost you $43,61.
Taipei is the capital of Taiwan. In it, a hamburger costs $18,60 and a club sandwich costs $11,67. Prepare $6,84 for a cup of coffee, and about $9 for a glass of red wine. It all comes to a total of $46,12.
In the Dutch city of Amsterdam, you can eat a hamburger for about $22 or a club sandwich for less than $15. If you drink coffee prepare an amount of almost 4 dollars, and for a glass of red wine you will need almost 6 dollars. All these pleasures will cost you $47.
In Rome, Italy, you can get a hamburger for less than $22 or a club sandwich for $14,5. A cup of coffee will cost you $3,37. If you like Italian red wine, save almost 9 dollars. All this pleasure will cost you almost $49.
Sydney is the largest city in Australia. Set aside $23 for a hamburger and a club sandwich will set you back $16,37. Prepare closer to 4 dollars for a cup of coffee, and 7,5 dollars for a glass of red wine. The total bill for this pleasure will cost you $51.
Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. In it, a burger can be bought for $20,30 and a club sandwich for $17,13. If you like coffee, one cup will cost you almost 5 dollars. For a glass of red wine, prepare something above 10 dollars. And it all costs a total of $52,62.
Helsinki is the capital of Finland. There, a burger or club sandwich costs a little over $20. A cup of coffee costs about $4, and a glass of red wine costs $8,21. All together it costs $52,64.
Beijing is the capital of China. Here you can get a burger for $23,68 or a club sandwich for $15,5. A cup of coffee will cost you $7,68, and if you want to drink a glass of red wine, prepare $12,45 for one glass. All of that in total will cost you just over $59.
In the American city of New York, you can eat a burger for just over $24 or a club sandwich for $17,69. If you feel like drinking coffee, prepare $5,38. A glass of red wine will cost you $12,31. The full sum for this meal will cost you just over $59,5.
In Singapore, you can eat a burger for $23,5 and a club sandwich for $17. A cup of coffee costs $6 and a glass of red wine is almost $14. In total, you need $60,5 for the meal.
Tokyo is the capital of Japan. There, a burger costs $22,5 and a club sandwich costs $18,72. A cup of coffee costs 8,5 dollars, and if you want to drink red wine, a glass will cost you 11 dollars. A full meal will cost you close to $61.
Stockholm is the capital of Sweden. In it you can get a burger for $23,5 or a club sandwich for $23. A cup of coffee will cost you $4 and a glass of red wine $11,37. The total meal will cost you $61,71.
Seoul is the capital of South Korea. There, a hamburger costs close to $22, and you can get a club sandwich for just over $20. If you drink coffee, you will spend an additional 10 dollars, and for a glass of wine you should pay 13,61 dollars. And a full meal will cost you $65,32.
London is the capital of Great Britain. In it, you can get a burger for $25,74 and a club sandwich for $22. If you like coffee prepare a little more than 6 dollars. A glass of red wine costs $11,5. The total will be $65,45.
Oslo is the capital of Norway. In it you can get a hamburger for over $31 and a club sandwich for $20. A cup of coffee costs you close to $5, and a glass of red wine costs $12,32. All together it costs $68,42.

Geneva is a Swiss city. Geneva is the most expensive city for food. There you can order a hamburger for $37,80 and a club sandwich for $30,5. Prepare a little more than $6 for a cup of coffee. A glass of red wine will set you back $12,13. The total cost for one meal is $86,71.
