How to prepare baked potatoes with parmesan cheese? A much healthier version than fried.

Throughout history, potatoes were primarily used as livestock feed in Europe. In France it was even forbidden to grow it because it was believed to cause leprosy. Thanks to the French agronomist Antoine Augustin Parmentier, the use of potatoes for human consumption spread throughout Europe. He spread the rumor that potatoes were a food reserved only for the rich and ordered soldiers to form to guard the gardens planted with potatoes.

About two-thirds of the potato crop is used in food, but the tuber is also used for other purposes. Starch from it is used to stiffen fabrics and wallpaper (starch), as an additive to colors to thicken them, and is also used in printing on cotton and linen. It can also be used to obtain important acids: citric and fumaric, but also ethanol, which serves as fuel and for obtaining bioplastics.

Potato is also a medicinal plant. Its slices prevent blistering due to burns, and chewing raw removes nausea during pregnancy. Slices or starch from it can remove stains from spinach or grease, and also silverware is easily cleaned in the water in which it was cooked. It also removes traces of sweat from clothes, and it can also be used as a deodorant.

ingredients:

  • potatoes, 5 large pieces
  • olive oil, 1/4 cup

  • Parmesan cheese, grated, 1/2 cup

<strong>Preparation: </strong>

  • Heat the oven to 200 C.
  • Wash and peel the potatoes well. Cut lengthwise into larger pieces (approximately 8-10 pieces). Pour cold water into the pot and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Add potatoes. Bring it to a gentle boil, until it is 3/4 cooked.
  • Remove the potatoes and let them drain well. Place the potatoes in a baking dish. Drizzle with olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper. Stir well to coat the potatoes with olive oil and spices.
  • Place the baking dish in the oven and bake until the potatoes are light brown.
  • When the potatoes are light brown, sprinkle them with parmesan cheese. Bake for another 6-7 minutes until the potatoes are crispy and the Parmesan has melted and caramelized.
  • When the potatoes are ready, take them out of the oven and let them cool for 2 minutes. Serve warm.
