Medals for Novi Sad gastronomes - from March 3 to 6, 2017, the 10th International Culinary Competition of Southern Europe was held in Thessaloniki, organized by the Culinary Association of Northern Greece. The competition is supported by the World Culinary Association (WACS) and the Greek Ministry of Tourism.
More than 400 competitors from ten countries participated in the competition: Taiwan, Turkey, Cyprus, Montenegro, Greece, Latvia, Ukraine, Serbia, and the world's best judges from Greece, Italy, France, Mexico, Slovenia, Montenegro, Cyprus were the judges. , Japan, Taiwan, Germany, USA, Turkey, Latvia. The first man of the World Culinary Association, Thomas Gugler, graced the competition with his presence.
The Department for Geography, Tourism and Hospitality of Novi Sad PMF had representatives at this prestigious competition, who returned home with awards:
- Goran Radivojevic, teacher of skills in the field of gastronomy, silver medal in the category "Bird and poultry dishes" in the competition of professional chefs,
- Maja Banjac, PhD student and assistant at the Department of Gastronomy, silver medal in the "Pasta Dishes" category in the competition of professional chefs,
- Jelena Jevtic, 4th year student of the gastronomy module, diploma in the "Restaurant dessert" category in the junior competition and Goran Gasparovski, silver medal in the "Risotto" category in the junior competition. The two also competed in the team discipline "Two to tango", with 15 other teams from higher vocational schools, colleges and hotels, and won the bronze medal.
- The positive reviews, which our team received from the world's elite judges, represent a great recognition of quality, both for students and for professors, teachers and assistants. At the competition, contacts were established with several universities from Greece and Taiwan, and we hope that we will be able to achieve high-quality cooperation and contribute to the improvement of the quality of teaching of our students - it is stated in the announcement of the Department for Geography, Tourism and Hospitality of Novi Sad PMF.
