Belgrade – August 7, 2018. For the eighth time in a row, METRO Cash & Carry Serbia has been successfully certified according to IFS Cash & Carry standard belonging to the GFSI group of highest food safety standards. The certification covers the directorate and all nine wholesale facilities.
Applying this standard, METRO provides a guarantee of the highest quality, especially when it comes to preserving the safety of fresh meat, as a very sensitive and microbiologically perishable food.
By checking all segments of procurement, transportation, reception, storage, delivery and sale of food products, a high level of safety and quality was determined, as well as a high level of education of employees from these areas. New trends are continuously monitored and implemented within standards related to food quality and safety, and rapid and efficient improvement of production processes, training and education of employees is carried out.
The IFS Cash & Carry standard-version 2 has been expanded with a requirement related to "Food fraud" and "Food defense". In question are requests to establish measures to prevent deliberate attempts to contaminate food products, unauthorized presence of goods and people, food fraud, bioterrorism and vandalism of infrastructure parts and equipment that may affect food safety.
