Museums for 10 - Zrenjanin National Museum

The manifestation "Museums of Serbia, ten days from 10 to 10" in which the National Museum of Zrenjanin participated for the previous three years, this year was transformed into the manifestation "Museums for 10" which lasts from May 14 to 20. This period will include International Museum Day, European Museum Night and National Museum Week.

The European Night of Museums will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, from 17 p.m. to 01 a.m. The programs will take place in Zrenjanin at several locations in the city, and this year's participants are: National Museum Zrenjanin, Contemporary Gallery Zrenjanin, Cultural Center Zrenjanin, National Theater "Toša Jovanović", City Public Library "Žarko Zrenjanin", Historical Archive Zrenjanin, Kultur kick and the diocese of Zrenjanin. Also, the Museum Night will be held in Lazarevo.

All content will be free for the public.

The Zrenjanin night of the museum was also supported this year by the company Gomex.

Salon - Exhibition "Jožef Pehan - an artist at the turn of the century - works from the collection of the City Museum in Vrbas and the Mandić collection"

The exhibition " Jožef Pehan - an artist at the turn of the century - works from the collection of the City Museum in Vrbas and the Mandić collection" is the result of the cooperation of two museum institutions - the City Museum in Vrbas and the National Museum in Zrenjanin. The exhibition includes works of art by Jožef Pehan from the collection of the Vrba Museum in the form of paintings, drawings, sculptures, personal items and photographs, and is significantly enriched with works from the private collection of Jovan Mandić from Novi Sad. The author of the exhibition and the text in the catalog is Ivana Arađan, curator-historian of art from the National Museum of Zrenjanin, while collaborators on the exhibition are curator-historians Boro Vojinović and Pavle Orbović from the City Museum in Vrbas, and private collector Jovan Mandić.

The aim of the exhibition is to present to the Zrenjanin audience the works of one of the most important artists of the Vojvodina area, who created on the very turning points of the centuries, and reached the zenith of creativity in the period before the First World War. Jožef Pehan is presented as a painter, draftsman, sculptor, caricaturist and photographer. He is one of the most important modern creators, who with his works and talent significantly enriched the artistic life and visual culture of the Vojvodina area.

Wednesday, May 16 at 19 p.m. - Small Salon - opening of the exhibition "Japanism in Banat: 1869-1969"

The exhibition of the Zrenjanin National Museum "Japaneseism in the Banat: 1869-1969" is the result of this institution's long tradition of preserving and nurturing Japanese culture in the Banat area. For the first time in Serbia in terms of exhibition, this exhibition deals with the topic and term of Japanism. The exhibition, on the one hand, aims to present movable cultural goods that originate from the area of ​​Japan, or were created under its influence, and are kept in Banat public and private collections. The exhibition and the accompanying catalog by Dejan Vorgić, curator - art historian of the Zrenjanin National Museum, present and expertly process 43 objects or units, made in Japan or created under the influence of Japanese culture, of which 22 are owned by the Zrenjanin National Museum. One item each was borrowed from the Pancevo National Museum, the Kikinda National Museum, the Žarko Zrenjanin City Public Library and the UK Contemporary Gallery Ečka. The remaining items come from Zrenjanin's private collections, among which those owned by Boško Zakin stand out.

"Nesting", camera setup of objects from the Oological Collection (collection of bird eggs). The natural history department traditionally, within this manifestation, presents to the audience a part of the objects it keeps in its fund, which are not exhibited in the permanent exhibition. Among other things, there is also a collection of eggs, numbering about 200 items. These are the eggs of birds that are characteristic of our region, such as: sparrows, swallows, cuckoos, crows, quails, partridges, larks, herons, hawks, kestrels, falcons and many others. The audience will have the opportunity to see the difference in size, color and shape between eggs of different species. Author of the exhibition: Nataša Knežević, senior curator - biologist.

One of the indispensable traditional pieces of kitchen textile furniture will be presented at the exhibition - a dozidnica (cooker) from the collection of the Department of Ethnology. Dozidnice is a rectangular piece of cloth with an embroidered idyllic ornament from everyday life, whose function is to decorate the wall and protect it from dirt. In addition to traditional characteristic models, additions made in the 21st century will be presented at the exhibition. The author of the new additions is our fellow citizen Pavka Martinović. On her wall papers there are messages criticizing the current state of society. Making new additions became her personal protest and a way of advocating for the modern woman and her rights.

The authors of the exhibition are the curators of the Ethnological Department.

22 p.m. - First floor - Permanent exhibition - Sforever revealedanje and presentanje Portraita Mihajla Pupin Urosa Predića

The portrait of a scientist painted by Uroš Predić for his endowment in Idvor in 1930 is today owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church in Idvor. After the restoration, it was placed in the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Belgrade, and recently it was exhibited in the SANU Gallery as part of the guest exhibition "So, you are that Uroš Predić?". After the end of the exhibition, it was proposed that this valuable painting be handed over to the National Museum of Zrenjanin for safekeeping, as the only institution in the country that inherits the legacy of Uroš Predić. From the European Night of the Museum, this portrait will be part of the permanent exhibition of the NMZ Art Collection. Olivera Skoko, senior curator-art historian, will talk about the work.

WORKSHOPS:

17-22 p.m. Salon - Mosaic evening "Games and puzzles"

In the museum's playroom, all interested visitors will be able to put together puzzles with motifs from the museum's collection, play traditional board games, fold origami figures...

18-20h Prize game in the permanent exhibition of the National Museum in Zrenjanin "Visitor-detective"

Take part in solving the mystery and help the curator find objects that are not part of the permanent exhibition. Every visitor has the opportunity to participate in a prize game in which they have to find objects that are currently on permanent display, and which, due to their artistic value, age or some other characteristics, do not deserve to be in the museum. Anyone who wants to be a detective and wants to try to find "hidden" objects will be given a paper/application on which they will write the name of the hidden object and the room on the permanent display where the object is located, as well as their information (name and surname and telephone number ). Visitors will leave the completed papers in the box located on the first floor of the Museum. At 20:XNUMX p.m., the drawing of prize winners will begin. The first three drawn visitors-detectives who have a duly completed application and correct answers (name of the hidden objects and the room they are in) will be awarded with special gifts prepared for them by the National Museum in Zrenjanin.

18-21h Atrium - Rasection of painting and sculpting

Children will be able to paint with acrylic paints or sculpt in clay objects from the museum collection whose photos will be exhibited. The workshop will be realized by conservators of the National Museum Zrenjanin.

19-19:45h Atrium - "Enigmatic Personality" Prize Quiz

Visitors who wish to take part in this quiz will have the opportunity to get to know the professions of museum employees, their role, work and tasks. In front of them will be three museum workers who will introduce themselves as Person 1, Person 2, Person 3, but so that they represent the same profession (curator, historian, archaeologist, conservator, restorer...). The participants will try to find out which one of them is really a person with that profession by asking their questions and based on the answers given by Persons 1, 2, 3. After the game, which will last 15 minutes, the participants will receive a piece of paper in which they will write their data (name and surname and phone number), as well as the answer, and after collecting the papers of all the participants in the quiz, after each game, in the same place, it will be held drawing of winners of special prizes prepared for them by the National Museum in Zrenjanin.
