The Balkan Museum Network (BMN) and the Cultural Heritage Without Borders Foundation from Bosnia and Herzegovina (CHwB BiH) are dedicated to the inclusion of people with disabilities in the presentation of museum collections, exhibitions and activities.

To remind:

In the National Museum of Zrenjanin in 2014, an audio-video guide through the permanent exhibition was created and installed on tablet devices adapted to blind and partially sighted and deaf and hard of hearing visitors. The creation of the guide was financed by an international humanitarian organization - the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the project was realized in cooperation with the Network of Balkan Museums and the Cultural Heritage Without Borders Foundation from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Zrenjanin National Museum was the first museum in Serbia to offer its visitors this type of guide adapted to people with disabilities.

The purpose of the guide is that visitors can go through the exhibition at their own pace and listen or watch explanations about the exhibits and stories about the history of the Middle Banat. The authors of the project are Biljana Eleković and Sanja Vrzić, curators of the Zrenjanin museum.

The guide app includes video files about the museum and the permanent exhibition in sign language, as well as text and audio files in Serbian and English. The guide is the result of the teamwork of Museum employees, good cooperation with the Organization of Blind and Visually Impaired People and the Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Zrenjanin, as well as with the design studio The Studio.

At the first interregional conference "Balkan Museums without Barriers" in Sarajevo in 2014, this project was declared the third best project in the area of the Western Balkans.
