The lecture entitled "Eros on the palate of the psyche: food and hedonism" will be held by Ms. Tamara Ognjević, director of the Artis Center, on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at 19 p.m. in the Salon of the National Museum of Zrenjanin as part of the exhibition "My measure is...".

No other being, except man, has loaded so many symbols and taboos into the daily need to eat. Neither put so much imagination and energy into preparing and serving the food. Neither tends to turn eating into a ritual, a cultural pattern, least of all an art. Food is truly the story of our life, in which its particular, sensual dimension transforms a nutritious substance into a unique hedonistic "means", which engages all the senses. It is given the attributes of an aphrodisiac, a delicate, magical substance capable of triggering Eros and making Psyche happy. At the same time, like any spell, food has many faces, some of which are extraordinarily malignant. This is a story about the magic of food as a means of initiating pleasure, that is, as a mediator in the awakening of different senses. At the same time, this is a short pilgrimage to the relationship between art and food as much as it is to a space where there is a difficult struggle between voluptuous measure and Pantagruelian exaggeration. At the same time, this is also a very personal story of an art historian, gastroheritologist and writer, who has eaten enough delicacies and seen too many works of art, without knowing how highly individual, selfishly personal and only apparently sharable among potentially interested hedonism is.

Ms. Tamara Ognjević, director of the Artis Center, has a master's degree in art history and a doctoral student in interdisciplinary scientific studies in culture and media management. For more than a decade, he has been engaged in the study of gastronomic heritage as a special form of intangible cultural heritage, and he is the founder of gastronomic heritology - a synthetic scientific research method in this area. He is the author of a large number of professional and scientific texts in the field of gastronomic heritage, as well as projects, exhibitions and lectures under the common title "Serbian Medieval Gastronomy - Living the Past" and "Pastry Shop". The topic of her doctorate is related to the management of gastronomic heritage, and she was awarded a high award by the National Committee of the International Council of Museums - ICOM Serbia for the project "Living the Past". She is a researcher for the gastronomic heritage of the Balkans at the European Institute of Gastronomy IEHCA (Tours, France), and in 2018 the magazine "Blic žena" declared her the woman of the year for her contribution to the study of the gastronomic heritage of Serbia.
