Belgrade, December 11, 2019 - The company METRO Cash & Carry and Crédit Agricole banka, in cooperation with the City of Belgrade and Banka hrane Belgrade, organized today a traditional humanitarian action called "New Year's Box" in the Sava Center. An interesting performance was organized for children from Belgrade kindergartens, as well as the distribution of New Year's packages.
The event was officially opened by the "Choir of Children and Employees of the Čukarica Preschool", after which the mayor of Belgrade, Prof. Ph.D. Zoran Radojičić, who said on the occasion of the traditional event: "The purpose and goal of this project is for the packages to reach children who need support." It is important to enable all children to have the same conditions for life and development, as well as to look forward to the holidays and enjoy them. I thank the socially responsible companies that participated in this humanitarian project, and I invite others to join and participate in the following years as well," said Mayor Radojičić.
After the opening ceremony, there was a play entitled "Elsa, Anna and Olaf in search of Santa Claus", in which the actors told a very exciting New Year's story to the children present. The entertainment and artistic program ended with the performance of the young ballerinas, after which Santa Claus presented the gathered children with packets filled with sweets and toys.
"This event means a lot to our children. Every moment of joy you make possible for them is our moment of joy. Thank you to everyone who participates in the organization of this event," said Branko Jovanović, father of four-year-old Teodora from the Švrća Kindergarten in New Belgrade.
The humanitarian project "New Year's Box" has been going on for more than ten years, and during that time, over 15.000 New Year's packages were distributed to children from socially disadvantaged families in the territory of Belgrade, with the aim of improving their position, as well as making them feel the warmth and spirit of the festive atmosphere. The project includes 17 Belgrade municipalities, and every year this festive get-together is organized for around 1000 children.
