On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the city (Veliki Bečkerek) in the First World War and the annexation of Vojvodina to the Kingdom of Serbia, an exhibition titled "One Hundred Years of Freedom" will be officially opened in the Salon of the National Museum of Zrenjanin on Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 13 p.m. whose authors are historians archivist Slobodan Milin and senior archivist Vanda Vojvodić Micova from the Historical Archive of Zrenjanin and curator Vladislava Ignjatov from the National Museum of Zrenjanin.

The exhibition "One Hundred Years of Freedom" will last until December 10, 2018 and consists of three segments.
The first segment of the exhibition is called Veliki Bečkerek and Middle Banat in the First St. war and shows the events before and during the war in this area. On 16 panels, through text and photos, arrests, trials and internments, the mobilization of the population into the Austro-Hungarian army, but also desertion, the appearance of logos, as well as the crossing of Serbs, Austro-Hungarian soldiers to the Russian side and joining the ranks of the Serbian volunteer army are shown. This segment of the exhibition also talks about the difficult social and economic conditions in the territory of the middle Banat, mostly the requisitioning measures that lasted throughout the war (1914−1918), as well as the end of the dual monarchy.

The second segment of the exhibition, entitled Famous Persons, concerns the most prominent persons from the Serbian national movement in Veliki Bečkerek. 9 panels show the biographies of Serbian champions - from Dr. Slavko Županski, through Emil Gavrila and Živko Terzin to priest Dragutin Mojić, who were interned by the Austro-Hungarian authorities after the Sarajevo assassination in 1914. The billboards also contain biographies with photos of the founders of the Serbian National Committee.

The third segment of the exhibition entitled Liberation in 1918 is dedicated to the formation of the Serbian People's Committee in Veliki Bečkerek on October 31, 1918, its key decisions and actions. Through selected documents, minutes of the Serbian People's Committee and photographs of the participants of the fateful events, visitors will be able to see the turning point in November 1918, when the liberating Serbian army entered Veliki Bečkerek. In addition, the organization of the Great National Assembly in Novi Sad and the annexation of Banat, Bačka, Baranja and Srem to its motherland - the Kingdom of Serbia - were covered on the 20 panels of the third segment of the exhibition.

In addition to the panels, the exhibition will also display various original documents (e.g. personal documents of internees and other famous people, records and diaries of volunteers, minutes of the Serbian People's Committee, correspondence of village committees, correspondence and acts of the Serbian army in Veliko Bečkerek, etc.), photographs , as well as objects, weapons and military equipment from the period of the First World War, mainly from the collections and funds of the Historical Archive of Zrenjanin and the National Museum of Zrenjanin, but also from private collections.

In the Small Salon, a part of the exhibition Volunteers of the Middle Banat in the First World War will be shown - which includes the tradition of VOLUNTEERING, as well as volunteers from Bosnia, Herzegovina, Lika, Kordun, Banija and Montenegro, who received the so-called volunteer honor for their services in the war - arable land with a house and garden, in the area of ​​today's middle Banat. This exhibition was realized in 2017 on the occasion of the City Holiday - November 17, and is a contribution to the NMZ culture of remembrance and remembrance of the famous and difficult events from the Great War, but primarily the memory of volunteers, people who joined the Serbian army by their own choice from patriotic, patriotic and national motives. This exhibition is also a reminder that the Serbs from the middle Banat made a significant contribution to the victory of the Serbian army in the First World War, national liberation, as well as the unification of the Serbian people and the creation of the Yugoslav state in 1918.

During the duration of the exhibition in the Small Hall of the Zrenjanin National Museum, screenings of the film "Establishment of the First Serbian People's Committee in Vojvodina 11" by Dušan Juvanin will be organized every weekday at 18:1918 and XNUMX:XNUMX, while screenings for announced student groups will be held by appointment.
