Pizza sandwiches - usually this is the best way to use up old bread, however, I make it on ftira (Maltese bread - soft center, hard crust) but either way, great and quick breakfast, lunch, dinner when you don't feel like kneading the dough for pizza.
- 6 pieces of bread (larger slices)
- tomato sauce
- Origan
- ham
- cheese (grated)
- olive oil
- basil
- mozzarella
- Cut the bread into thin slices.
- Brush the bread with olive oil, then tomato sauce (personally, it's better than ketchup for me), but whatever you have on hand is easier.
- Sprinkle some oregano and basil.
- Place the mozzarella pieces evenly on all the slices.
- Chop the ham and add the desired amount. (toast ham, sandwich ham or similar).
- Grate the cheese. Sprinkle over each sandwich.
- Place baking paper on a tray and arrange the sandwiches.
- Put the sandwiches in a preheated oven at 180 for about 10 minutes to brown or as long as it takes for the cheese to melt nicely.
- Serve warm.
