We visited a restaurant Old Kosutnjak, the Diaspora Club at the Stari Košutnjak restaurant, whose founders are Mr. Slobodan Ivanovic from Toronto and Mr. Miša Ćirić from Belgrade.
We spoke with Slobodan Ivanović, one of the founders of the Diaspora Club and the Stari Košutnjak restaurant.
"The idea is to gather the diaspora through the Club. Now there are 3-5 million Serbs living in the world, on all continents." says Mr. Ivanovic.
He has been living in the diaspora for 46 years, but he has always remained in contact with Serbia. So far, he has gone to Canada and returned 140 times.
"The aspiration is to reunite the diaspora with Serbia. The only way to do that is to connect business entities and it must be two-way." - told us Mr. Ivanovic. "The idea is to offer our pihtije, beans (peas on a pan), or sarma to everyone who comes from the diaspora or to foreign citizens living in Belgrade."
