As part of the fourth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine, the fair "Made in Italy Serbia" was organized, where new food products for the Serbian market were presented.
The fair was opened by H.E. Carlo Lo Caso, Ambassador of the Republic of Italy in Serbia; Đorđo Marchedjani, president of the Chamber of Italian-Serbian Businessmen and Mirjana Kojić, secretary general of the Chamber.
Producers of wine, olive oil, chocolate, cheese, but also pasta and meat presented their products to interested visitors and potential collaborators. The mobile application "Mamma Itala" was also presented, which can be used to find locations around the world where original Italian products are sold.
The Ministries of Agriculture of Italy and Serbia held a seminar "Geographic indications of the global market - value, registration and protection" where Davide Liberati, leader of the EU project for organic production and protection of geographical origin, pointed out that three Serbian products are soon ready to receive the EU designation of geographical origin : Pirot cheese, Aril raspberry and Fruško Gora linden honey. Also speaking at the seminar were Silvia De Bertoldi from the Ministry of Agriculture of Italy, Stevica Marković and Vuk Vujačić from the association "Original Serbia", which brings together producers whose products bear the designation of geographical origin, and Mirjana Ostojić from the association "Slow Food" in Serbia.
In addition, on November 23, numerous wine shops and restaurants in Belgrade celebrated the "Day of Italian Wines" dedicated to exceptional Italian wines, organized by the Italian Agency for Foreign Trade (ICE).
The program of the fourth Week of Italian Cuisine in the world this year is connected with the message "Contribution for flooded areas" ("Contributo emergenza acqua"). This campaign of the municipality of Venice is intended to help the city that has been severely damaged due to large inflows of water, and will be mentioned at every event, with a review of the previous days and suggestions for help.
