Belgrade, May 23, 2018 - The promotion of the book "Traditional Recipes of Home Serbian Cuisine" was held in the METRO HoReCa Center. This special work talks about the preparation of food with all its cultural, health and historical aspects and represents support for the preservation of tradition and the intangible cultural heritage of Serbia.
The author team consists of: Miodrag Ilić, author of the book; professor Dr. Slađana Šobajić, author of the foreword and expert associate; Kristina Gašpar, professional associate and gastro editor; Snezana Kitanović, professional associate and others.
The project of collecting traditional recipes and publishing the book Traditional recipes of domestic Serbian cuisine was supported by the company METRO Cash & Carry Serbia, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.
"For us as an institution, it is very important to recognize such projects, which are of great importance for tourism and catering. The book is important for all those who enjoy food and history, for current and future generations in the country, but also abroad. We believe that this book will motivate restaurateurs to include some of the specialties in their offer. Thank you once again for including us in this project", said Tijana Maljković, secretary of the Tourism Association of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
In this book, readers will be able to find many old dishes, which today are on the verge of being forgotten, which can very rarely be ordered in restaurants, and which are rarely prepared in the family circle.

"The author made an effort to present all the results of the research work to the public with this book. The awareness that we do not have a lot of historical, written material about the diet of the Serbian people is an even more reason to treat this topic gradually and thoroughly. METRO recognized the importance of this project, which is directly related to the company's operations, and supported the author, Miodrag Ilić, to preserve from oblivion a part of the culinary heritage of our ancestors," said Uroš Urošević, Head of HoReCa customer relations at METRO Serbia and reviewer of the book "Traditional recipes of domestic Serbian cuisine".
The book contains about 100 recipes from all parts of Serbia, divided geographically: northern Serbia (Vojvodina), eastern Serbia, southern Serbia, western Serbia and central Serbia. The book also describes a brief history of culinary arts in Serbia, as well as the importance of traditional food preparation (simmering, simmering, cooking, stewing...) for human health. The book was published in two languages, Serbian and English.
