Rainbow cake - this is the basic recipe for a rainbow cake, but you can fill it as you wish, equally in colors or just with whipped cream. Also, you can make each layer separately in one color, then fill and layer like a cake.

  • 3 eggs (beaten)
  • 20 g of cooking margarine
  • 1 cup of white sugar
  • 1 cup flour (sifted)
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 0,25 cup of milk
  • 6 pieces of food coloring (4-6 pieces)
  1. Heat the oven to 200 degrees and prepare the ingredients.
    First add the sifted baking powder to the flour.
  2. Coat the pan in which you will bake the cake with margarine. If you use baking paper, you can shape it so that the colors do not mix, by bending it slightly at the bottom of the container. In this case, spray with oil spray or melt a little margarine and spread with a brush.
  3. Crack the eggs into a deep bowl and mix with a mixer for about 1 minute. Add sugar. Mix for another 1 minute until you get a uniform yellow mass with a smooth and foamy texture.
  4. Add milk, and then gradually add flour until you get a smooth mixture.
  5. Separate the mass into equal bowls, divide into as many as you will use colors. Let's say 4 suits - 4 bowls.
    Beat the edible colors into the mass with a whisk - until the color is evenly distributed. Do the same with each color.
  6. There are more ways than this point to pour a rainbow cake.
    1. Bake each color separately in round pans up to 20 cm wide. And arrange one on top of the other with or without filling in between.
    2. Pour each color into the baking dish side by side and they will mix during baking.
    3. Separate with paper at the bottom of the bowl and pour one color into each space.
    You choose what is easiest for you. I use the other two methods as significantly faster.
    Blue, green, red and no color were used in the picture.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes while watching because this cake is very sensitive. It should get a firm texture and rise.
    Check for doneness using a toothpick. Pierce and if the mixture does not remain on the toothpick, then the cake is ready. Through practice, this becomes a real enjoyment and hobby for children. The cake tastes like parsnip, so you can fill it with filling if you want something sweeter.
  8. You can also decorate it with whipped cream, which you will paint in different colors. Let your imagination run wild.
Eggs should be at room temperature. Ideally, you should take them out of the fridge half an hour before, but not more than half an hour.
