The final of the competition for the selection of the best vanillas of Serbia (the best traditional recipe of the year) for 2020 was held in the premises Tourist Organizations of Serbia (TOS). Milica Živković from Bela Crkva prepared the best vanilla in Serbia with the votes of an expert jury.

"There are tastes that we remember and we want to always remember them. There are vanillas, which are always more than tasty. That's why the Tourist Organization of Serbia was part of the finals of the selection for the best vanilla cake recipe, which was organized by the well-known culinary portal 'Recipes and Chefs Online'", according to the announcement of the Tourist Organization of Serbia.

Director of TOS Marija Labovic she emphasized the importance of preserving traditional recipes. As director Labović said, the taste of local specialties is one of the three impressions that tourists take with them after their trip.

"Tastes, gastronomy are what completes the offer of a tourist destination", Labović assessed.

President of the jury Biljana Djordjevic, museum advisor at the National Museum, reminded that vanilla ice cream is not an original Serbian recipe. However, from the moment they arrived on our premises, they felt at home. The housewives perfected them so that they rightfully deserved the epithet of the most popular celebratory or holiday cake that is prepared in almost every household today.

Competition organizer and editor of the "Recipes and cook online" portal Miodrag Ilić he is pleased that even during the pandemic, a large number of recipes arrived at the competition. As he announces, the promotion of traditional recipes and flavors will continue in the future. The announcement of the best vanillas of Serbia was scheduled to take place on Festival of dough, pasta and bread "Testival" #3. At "Testival" #3, vanilla will have its rightful place.

In addition to the best vanillas in Serbia for 2020, according to the jury's evaluations, the best vanillas were also announced according to the votes of the audience, voting via the Instagram page Recipes and Kuvar online. The best vanillas of Serbia for 2020 according to the audience's votes, prepared by Verica Poznanović.

Valuable gift packages for all participants in the final of the contest for the selection of the best Serbian vanilla for 2020, she prepared Shaba Dairyc.

The recipe for the best Serbian vanilla ice cream for 2020 according to the expert jury, Milica Živković:

Vanilla, ingredients:

  • 250 g of fat,
  • 1/2 kg of flour,
  • 1 egg,
  • 2 egg yolks,
  • 6 spoons of sugar,
  • juice of 1 lemons,
  • 1 vanilla sugar,
  • 5 tablespoons of apricot jam,
  • 100 g of powdered sugar.

Vanilla, preparation:

  • Beat the fat and sugar well, then add the egg, flour, vanilla sugar and lemon juice and mix.
  • Roll out the dough with a rolling pin, cut out cookies of various shapes with a mold and bake for 15 minutes at 180 degrees.
  • Combine two at a time with apricot jam and roll in powdered sugar.

The recipe for the best vanillas in Serbia for 2020 according to the votes of the audience via Instagram, Verica Poznanović:

Vanilla, ingredients:

  • 200 g of fat,
  • 500 g of flour,
  • 1 egg yolk,
  • 1 whole egg
  • 4 spoons of sugar and
  • juice of 1 lemons,
  • apricot jam or your choice.

Vanilla, preparation:

  • Beat the fat until foamy, then add the yolks and one whole egg, sugar, juice of one lemon and flour.
  • Transfer everything to a mixing board, knead the dough and roll out the crust half a centimeter thick with a rolling pin.
  • Use a mold for vanilla cakes to take out scones, dip each one in beaten egg white snow, then arrange them on a baking sheet, put them in the oven and bake them, making sure they stay white.
  • Join the roasts two at a time with marmalade.
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
