- more than one billion pizzas are made and sold in the US each year. Add to that another billion frozen pizzas that are made and delivered to supermarkets
- of all registered restaurants in the US, 17% are reported as pizzerias
- the first pizzeria was opened in the USA in New York in 1859
- in the USA, about 10 kg of pizza is eaten per person per year
