Healthy food and superfoods are the main topic, and with them we will get rid of toxins from the body and stay young forever.

We obsessively look for the labels 'organic', 'low fat', 'gluten-free' and the like on product packaging and automatically assume that such food is healthy. However, what is often advertised as healthy may not be so at all.

Here are the most common misconceptions:

1. Cereals

Studies show that today's so-called 'healthy bread' can cause inflammatory processes and increase cholesterol levels. Namely, today's whole grains are processed in a different way than those from, for example, the 1960s. year.

2. Agave nectar

This is the latest trend and can be found in health food stores. Agave nectar is used as a substitute for sugar, and as it is much sweeter than sugar or honey, it should be added to tea, coffee or cakes much less. However, by adding agave nectar you are still adding sugar so the health benefit is almost non-existent.

3. Energy bars and muesli

While they're good as a post-workout snack, energy bars won't help non-exercisers because they're high in sugar and calories. In addition, they often contain white flour, fructose, corn syrup and other sweeteners. By consuming energy bars, you add another 300 or 400 calories to your daily diet.

4. Vegan bacon

This meat substitute is advertised as an ideal substitute for those who want to enjoy bacon while eating meat. The problem is that this food is highly processed, so it usually contains a lot of fat and sugar.

5. Fruit smoothies

People assume that fruit smoothies are good because they only contain fruit. However, it is forgotten that fruit also contains a lot of sugar. Nutritionists warn that if you drink fruit juice instead of eating it, you can actually take in significantly more vitamins. Instead, it's better to use your teeth and eat the fruit the way nature intended.

6. Low fat yogurt

This is a trick primarily because of the name itself because the manufacturers know that people prefer to buy things labeled 'low fat'. Although such products may indeed have a slightly lower portion of fat, they generally have the same or more sugars as standard products. In addition, many of these products do not contain beneficial probiotic bacteria at all, because after fermentation they are pasteurized, which eliminates all the good bacteria.
