On the plateau at the foot of the Avala Tower, the 2nd Avala Cheese Festival will be held this coming weekend, a tasting exhibition of cheeses from small producers, open to all visitors to Avala.
In addition to white cow's and goat's cheeses from Podavali villages where there is a tradition of cheese production, some of the most famous and award-winning cheeses from Serbia will be displayed and presented at the stalls: Belgrader, the famous Budimirović goat's cheese from Glušci near Šabac, as well as cheeses from Banat Karađorđev, Bistrica, Gardinovci, Kikinda, Kukujevac, Smederevo, Sremska Mitrovica, Susek on Fruška Gora, as well as from Avali, the sister mountains of Divčibar and Zlatibor.
Visitors will be able to enjoy pairing cheeses with top wines from Avali, the neighboring mountain, Fruška Gora, and high-quality natural products from the fruits of small agricultural households and farms from suburban Belgrade municipalities will also be presented.
In addition to good tastes and a wonderful view from the plateau of the Aval tower, visitors will be able to enjoy the temperature ten degrees lower than in the city and a pleasant breeze.
The working hours of the "Avala Cheese Festival" are from 10 a.m. to 14 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 14 p.m. on Sunday.
Entry is free for all visitors.
Avala can also be reached by city bus on line 400, which departs from Trošarina in Banjica every 40 minutes starting at 8 am.
