THE BEST SERBIA GIBANICA COMPETITION – local gibana.

I make gibanica in various ways and this is one of them. I used to make the crusts myself, now I buy them and the gibanica turns out great regardless.

Preparation 10 minutes
Baking for 25 minutes
For 10 pieces

Homemade gibanica, ingredients:

  • 400 g of boiled cheese
  • 4 +1 egg
  • 1 bag of baking powder
  • 200+50 ml of whey
  • 2+2 spoons of oil
  • salt to taste
  • 5+10+3 pie crusts (500 g thinner crusts)

Homemade gibanica, preparation:

  • Finely chop the cheese and mix in the eggs and baking powder.
  • Boil the first part of the whey and pour it hot into the cheese and mix.
  • Grease a 40x20 pan and arrange 4 crusts around the pan so that they cross the edges and put 5 in the middle, separate 3 crusts for the top.
  • Crumple the other 10 crusts one by one and add them to the prepared cheese and egg mixture to soak.
  • Now arrange the crusts in the pan. Put the 3 peels, which we separated, on top and fold over the peels that are over the edge of the pan.
  • Spread with another part of the oil and prick with a fork.
  • Separately beat the egg and the second part of the whey and pour it over the gibanica.
  • Cut into cubes and put in a heated oven at 200°C to bake for about 25 minutes.
  • Remove the baked gibanica from the oven and cover with a kitchen towel and leave to cool.
  • Cut into cubes and serve while still warm.
  • Have fun and enjoy!
