THE BEST GIBANICA OF SERBIA - as part of the celebration of its ten years of existence, the portal Recipes and Kuvar online chooses the best traditional recipe in 2023.

The contest lasts until December 31.12.2023, 2024, therefore, the recipes are collected until that date, and the final and the official announcement of the winner will be in February XNUMX.

Gibanica is one of the most popular and most loved traditional dishes in Serbia, so that is the reason why we decided to collect and publish your recipes, in order to find which one is the best gibanica Serbia.

Gibanica is a traditional pastry popular throughout the Balkans. It is usually made from developed crusts, fresh cheese and eggs. Recipes can vary from sweet to savory, from simple to festive and complex multi-layered cakes.

The word "gibanica" is derived from the verb gibita meaning "to twist; swing, swing". This dish is mentioned in the Serbian Dictionary of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić in 1818.

How to prepare the perfect gibanica with baked crusts? Nothing without homemade baked crusts from Raznje...

Perfect gibanica with baked crusts, ingredients:

  • package of homemade rolled baked crusts from Raznje, 500 g (purchased at TO THE TEST),
  • 250 g of hard, overheated cow's white cheese,
  • 250 g of small, soft, young cow's white cheese,
  • 100 g of sour cream or young cream,
  • 4 eggs,
  • 50 ml of olive oil,
  • 100 - 150 ml of acidic water,
  • 20 g butter for greasing.

Perfect gibanica with baked crusts, preparation:

  • Grease the baking pan with butter.
  • Shred the hard, overcooked cow's cheese with a knife.
  • Beat the eggs in a mixing bowl.
  • Add chopped boiled cheese, small cheese, sour cream or fresh cream to the beaten eggs and mix well.
  • Place one crust in the pan, then sprinkle a little oil and sour water.
  • Then, add the second crust and pour one third of the egg and cheese mixture.
  • Repeat adding the crusts, sprinkling with oil and pickled water and adding the mixture until you have crusts.
  • At the end, put two crusts and sprinkle with oil and sour water.
  • A perfect gibanica with a baked crust is baked in the oven at 200 C for twenty minutes (which depends on the strength of your oven and the baking method: with fan or not) until golden brown.
  • When the perfect gibanica is baked, take it out of the oven, brush it with a little water and leave it under a clean kitchen towel to cool.
  • Serve with sour milk or yogurt.
  • Pleasant!
